Stanley Park extension up-date:
The 0.8 km extension to Stanley Park is currently under construction. It is expected to open for service on
Labour Day (September 1, 2003). The new Stanley Park service will become part of the Route 19 which serves
Metrotown in Burnaby.
There will be other route changes taking effect on Labour Day as well. Fraser service will be linked with
Cambie instead of the current Granville, and Granville service will be combined with Hastings. Oak Street
service will be linked with the current service on Tenth to UBC.
Route 9 trolleys terminating at Alma will serve UBC during peak periods.
Note that there are no plans to restore evening service on Hastings. Two new Friday-Saturday night bus services
will be introduced, one serving the West End and one serving UBC via Tenth. Both of these are expected to be
diesel-operated services despite running under wire for the entire route.
Riders surveyed for feedback on new trolleybus design:
A market research firm is surveying riders on Vancouver trolleybuses for two weeks in mid-June to find out what
the public would like to see in the upcoming new generation of trolleys. In order to have your say, be sure to
take the trolley!
